All Global Rules Apply
- Try to keep things organized.
- Absolutely No Blacklisting or the creating or propagating of a Blacklist. We're all Tha/tg/uy and you know it.
Anyone heard of Godbound? It was kickstarted a while ago and I ended up with the book. Seems interesting but very non-crunch. Basically the party are nascent gods and can theoretically do anything eventually. Like its written so that the party can have an excuse to rewrite the setting. Is that a good way to do stuff, or should settings be immutable for the players?
I just downloaded the rules for Inquisitor, a 28mm miniature skirmish game set in the Warhammer 40K universe. The game appears to have been discontinued some years ago, and I never got to play it myself, but it looks like a blast. According to the rulebook, it is a 'narrative wargame', meaning that players are encouraged to think of gameplay sessions as part of a story, with a clear sense of character progression and continuity between sessions. The whole thing seems very close to an RPG already.
Would something like this work as a Role Playing Game? It seems like I could just homebrew some rules for doing things out of combat, like requisitioning troops, conducting negotiations, or exploring potential battlegrounds with no immediate danger. You would probably end up with something like Dark Heresy 2, only with optional miniatures and combat more closely resembling regular 40K. Hopefully, the rules would be a little bit more streamlined and flexible as well.
What necessary changes or expansions to the existing rules would need to be made? Would the end product be both fun to play, and distinct from Dark Heresy? If you don't think it's worth the effort, should I just import the scenarios from Inquisitor into Dark Heresy instead?
Truth, It was a shame. the game would have really benefited from a 2nd edition. Also a refocus to 28mm (but keep a few 54mms for artistic reasons).
I always hope they will pop out of the blue with a new rulebook and some dope 58mm models in a new box set. It would be the only really thing I would buy from GW these days.

I love how these faggots think the Imperium would support their degenerecy. Everyone knows that all faggots are Slaneesh worshippers. Don't get me wrong, I don't care who plays the game, I just fucking hat the people who trying to force real world politics and topics onto the game world.
Oh probably, but as long as they're not being assholes about it and telling me how to play the game and attempting to change their entire back catalog for 'muh wrongthink' then I'm fine with their politics.
i don't particuarly care what someone thinks (unless it's troons because fuck them and their gender shit stuff on kids and trying to LARP my sex) as long as they're not pushing it in my face and it's kept to themselves.
They’d probably call the SoBs TERFs. Bolter Bitches would sooner roast the tranny and trannylovers with holy promethium then allow them into their order. Plenty of irl women would do the same if they could get away with it. The behind the doors shittalking about ugly men in dresses by the women in my life has been interesting.
I have it and generally like it. It is great for board/card games.
For D&D or 40k? Not so much. It is cumbersome for constantly moving figures due to being so physics based and its bookkeeping tools are mediocre.
For mods just browse the Steam Workshop for whatever game catches your fancy. Some have somewhat automated rules which is nice.
I use VASSAL for 40k and Roll20 for D&D. VASSAL to my knowledge is completely free but Roll20 has paid options. I don't feel like the paid options for Roll20 are worth it though and have been using it free for almost a decade.

can't read the player's handbook, suffering to play with
it's not difficult, anon.
XP is a bad system in general. It's not as easy to abuse in a TTRPG as it is in a video game, but by putting the price of improvement on specific acts you will inherently drvie your players to repeat those acts.
Getting gold, killing goblins, whatever it is thats all the players will want to do because they want to level up. It leaves no room for resolving conflicts in any other way because other approaches to the game are moree difficult to put an XP price on, and if you're going to try you might as well just do mile stone levelling.
I have a book on DM tricks, and one thing mentioned by a former WotC staff member, is their lunchtime games were run on spent gold
That is, it didn't matter how many things you killed -- you needed to get back to town, rent the nice room, buy more rations, find someone to sew up your leather armor if you wanted to gain a level.
An odd system, but it was created to force depth of storytelling in the player.
>Fuck (((Wizards)))
>Fuck (((MTG Finance)))Here in the bunker EDH/Commander and Cube reign supreme free of the reek of shitty business practices, poor game design, and cardboard stonkmarkets.
Post your deck/cube lists. Talk about meta and community. Organize games. Feel comfy in the bunker.
All other Singelton format discussions are welcome as well.

>TQI will never stop putting Hatred into my decks, it's a wonderful kill out of nowhere when you get a commander through blockers.
>Cube
If I wanted to start a cube, I assume I go with Cube Tutor to build it, but how do I make it balanced? I've never used one before, so I'm completely new to them, and I've got no idea where to start without making one colour way more powerful then the rest.
Playtesting, really. Make a cube, draft, build the "optimal" decks for each color, and just keep tweaking it until you're happy. There's also CubeCobra which you might wanna check out. As for proxying, definitely go with MakePlayingCards. By spending $150 USD you get 720 double-sided cards (meaning if the cube lacks double-sided cards, you have two cubes, or one cube and 7 EDH decks with lands included, plus 20 tokens), and it'd be to your place in 2-3 weeks according to their website.
Fair enough, I just like to make my own stuff. Never liked taking lists from the internet, even stuff like cubes.
Alright, sounds good. Any themes I should avoid?
I'm not American, but MakePlayingCards is probably still the cheapest way to go. Hopefully it isn't too much longer then 2-3 weeks though.Play EDH or Pauper. EDH is as strong as the group wants, and people don't really care if you proxy until you can afford the deck, particularly if they play the really expensive reserve list cards, while Pauper is only commons, so it's extremely cheap to make decks for, even top tier ones.
